New base vibes!
Posted 15th March 2024
Cohort 2 have settled into life at their new base, and as you can see are making the most of their new facilities! The group have fully bonded and are attending group sessions regularly, it has been great to see them come together and work as a team on all aspects of the HPP programme. We are super proud of all they have achieved so far, and are really looking forward to hanging out with all of them when we go away on our residential in June. Planning has started for the Greater Manchester network event that will take place this summer, and we have a budding artist in out mist, who is taking on the challenge of designing a poster and invites that will be sent out to professionals and local businesses.
We will be supporting our young people with the planning and implementing of the event and are excited to see what they will come up with. We would also like to thank the team at the Together Centre for letting us use their facilities for our group sessions, they have been extremely accommodating and made us feel at home. We have a big outside space at the center, and the young people are looking forward to hosting the odd BBQ in the summer, as cooking is definitely one of their strengths!

Young people tell us that the House Project approach helps significantly, but we should never underestimate the enormous challenges they face at such a critical time in their lives. This reality was brought home to us recently with Sue’s decision to swap her working life at NHP for retirement caring for her new granddaughter two days a week. Even though Sue is fully in control of this decision-making process - something our young people often are not - the transition has still been discombobulating; letting go of something she enjoys and that has defined her, and moving on to something that will be incredibly rewarding and joyous.
