STHP Market Madness!!!!!

STHP Market Madness!!!!!

Posted 14th June 2023

We wanted to share with you all what a fantastic job our young people did, planning, preparing and being part of the Teenage Market Community Event run by the National Market Traders Federation, which took place in Hyde. Our young people pulled out all the stops and worked extremely hard setting up the stall and running it all day. They demonstrated so many skills including, connecting with the public, customer service, teamwork, organisation skills, negotiation skills and money management. Our young people were complimented by members of the public for their well-presented stall and their friendly, helpful attitude, and it was said on a few occasions that they had natural ability. Our young people demonstrated excellent hosting skills and they were described as an absolute credit to their project and the team couldn't be prouder!!!

One of the other exciting things about the day was that the stalls were being judged and you can imagine the joy from all our young people when Kerry received an email to say we had WON!!!!!!!!!!! This means that our young people are through to the regional finals, which will be held in Leeds, Kirkgate on the 29th of July and if successful there, will go through to the finals in Stratford upon Avon in August!

A huge congratulations to our young people and we are keeping everything crossed for the finals!!!!!!!!!

This reality was brought home to us recently with Sue’s decision to swap her working life at NHP for retirement caring for her new granddaughter two days a week. Even though Sue is fully in control of this decision-making process - something our young people often are not - the transition has still been discombobulating; letting go of something she enjoys and that has defined her, and moving on to something that will be incredibly rewarding and joyous.
